A calender, if you will, bearing witness to
the twenty-first year of life and the one year anniversary of said war;
glimpses, memoirs, art, the artist, the victim, the guilty parties, etc.
I have only changed some of the names.

the war...
one day, old loved ones
will dredge up the corpses like rotton apples
floating in a barrel of vinegar
and ask
"where were you when the war started?"
and i'll feel myself on a dusty hardwood floor
against that stained old piss yellow wall
in a room in a city that's dying
and taking me by the hand into street swept madness,
and it won't have the prestige of conspired against presidents
but if my demons must be paraded and exposed for these
multicolored scars to heal, then my scars will come forth
and speak for me, and this is the story they'll tell:
