SAN FRANCISCO & BIG SUR. Oct 00 In the fall of 2000 I took a week off from work and flew out to San Francisco to visit some friends and finally get to drive down the Pacific Coast Highway all the way to Big Sur. I even visited the Henry Miller Library and got to see some really old editions of some of Miller's books. Very good things. San Francisco is always a treat... riding the MUNI buses, walking the streets, book and music shopping, and dining. And then there is Noc-Noc on Haight street too, which is not to be missed. It's all about having some Sake and sitting on the floor under the purplish, red glow, with an old airplane fuselage built into the wall and ceiling.
At an especially gorgeous scenic overview. Big Sur, California.
Neon, Magnetic Chinatown, San Francisco. The glowing red slick cooked ducks always remind me of Honolulu's chinese restaurants that I used to see as a kid.
Chinatown San Francisco w/ Transamerica building.
Down by Ocean Beach.
A friend made me promise to get a photograph of myself at this intersection of Haight and Divisadero. Apparently he has a collection of photos of people he knows at this precise place. Across the street is the semi-famous and oft mispronounced Phuket (Thai) restaurant. (Return) ©2001 JPM. All photography and writing copyrighted. |
