1955 Allstate 125 - 1978 P125X - 1979 P200E - Booth&Painting

THE P200 HAS BEEN SOLD.

Finished restoration. Boston Common. Dec.18.98.
Moving Overseas. Must sell. Yes, it's true, the scooter I thought I'd never part with needs to be let go-- to a good home, I pray. (Those who know me, Yes I will be keeping the 1955 Allstate restro.)
Anyway, here are the details.
1979 Vespa P200e.
$2300 / best offer.
Restored, repainted, rebuilt by owner (w/ some help) Dec 1998.
Seafoam metallic green in color. Hubs grey-silver. All glossed, done in home spray booth, not professionally, but a darn fine job as most would say. Rescued this one from oblivion and did the restoration finishing in Dec 1998. Since then moderate wear, estimated 1500 miles on the rebuild -- predominantly highway/trip miles, but constantly maintained, oiled, cared for, and covered/garaged. Minor cosmetic flaws (scratches on front fender and left cowl) to be touched up before sale. Front and rear brake shoes will also be replaced and tuned prior to sale. Scooter starts reliable (usually second or third kick,) shifts smooth, handles well, and runs strong. Regular carb adjustments, tune-ups, etc, trust me-- this scooter has been loved. Exhaust was replaced with rebuild, but has since done as most stocks tend to-- looks a little shabby (rusty) but performs up to spec. All cables replaced with rebuilt and kept oiled.
All electrics seem to be okay with the exception of the rear left turn indicator which has a tendency to be sporadic-- suspect cowl plug on that side-- internal frame wiring mystery. Minor hiccups occasional with acceleration in too high a gear, going uphill. Doesn't get more honest than this, folks.
Rear bumper and left turn signal lens brand new replacements prior to sale (both were cracked in a parking SNAFU right before scooter was put into storage last winter.) Also, scooter differs from restro photos in that it has two handlebar mounted rear view mirrors now (not one,) all badges, and twin saddles have been re-replaced with bench seat and new seat-cover. Minor rust evident on underside of frame/body, but nothing concerning. Also, front hub will be de-rusted and repainted prior to sale. Tires in good shape, rear is Mich S80 with plenty of tread, spare and front tire also fine.
Scooter has valid MA title. Scooter currently garage-stored in Maine (last cleaned up and driven in July 01, doing great.) and can transport, but not anxious to arrange shipping. Honestly, a good home is more important to me than top dollar. No, this scooter is not listed on Ebay. Ample good references and impressed friends, scooterfolk remarks available if required. If seriously interested, want to offer support and condolences, or need more information, please email me.
26/08/01: The Scooter has been sold! I am sad to part with it, but needed to part with it to free up some savings for my move to Germany. Be on the look for the scoot on the streets of NYC!
